90-Day Action Plan

First 30 Days

Personally meet with each of the following groups to listen to their thoughts on Scouting in the Mountaineer Area Council including the existing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

  • Staff (commissioned & non-commissioned)

  • Council Key 3 (Dan McNeil & Ralph Herron)

  • Executive Committee & Board Members

  • Major Donors & Community Partners

  • District Chairmen​

 

Meet with the Council Treasurer (Chris Gorski), Council VP of Finance (John Beaumont), and any other key volunteers to review the current financial status of the council and review the current plan to achieve success through the end of 2018.

 

Review and modify the 2018 membership growth plan and popcorn sales plan with staff and key volunteers to ensure a path to success.

​

Foster positive community relationships by identifying civic organizations in which to seek membership, and representing Scouting at key community events.

​

Meet with key volunteers and the area director to understand the timeline for the acquisition of the Stonewall Jackson and Highland Districts of the former Allohak Council.

​

Next 60 Days

Review the council's financial status with key staff and volunteers to project year-end and analyze changes that may need to be made.

​

Hold a "fireside chat" in each district to connect with and listen to the greater Mountaineer Area Council family.

​

Working with key volunteers, review the structure of districts in the council to ensure that they are providing the highest level of district operations possible while providing quality service to their community through Scouting units.  Develop a plan to modify the structure, if needed.

​

Spend time with each staff member to understand their concerns, both professionally and personally, as well as their goals and aspirations.

​

Through conversations and research, identify the most influential community leaders to either help serve Scouting in key positions or identify others in their circles to approach.

​

Meet with staff and volunteers involved in camp operations to review the plan to deliver unparalleled experiences in 2019 at Camp Mountaineer.

​

Meet with staff and volunteers involved in the Friends of Scouting campaign and special events to understand the history of each initiative and modify for continued growth.
